Bend Studio Prepares for Its Next Major PlayStation Title
After years of silence following the 2019 release of Days Gone, developer Bend Studio may finally be gearing up to reveal its next big PlayStation exclusive. According to a new report, the studio's long-awaited project could be closer to completion than many gamers originally anticipated.
A Potential 2027 Target for Announcement and Release
The recent report indicates that Bend Studio plans to officially announce its new project in 2027 and launch it within that very same year. This approach would mark a streamlined marketing strategy, significantly reducing the long wait times that often occur between a game's initial reveal and its actual launch on PlayStation consoles.
Third-Person Co-Op Action and a Departure from Live Services
Details from the report describe the upcoming title as a third-person experience incorporating cooperative gameplay features. Crucially, the project completely moves away from the live-service model that PlayStation reportedly canceled back in 2025. This pivot suggests a strong commitment to a more traditional, design-focused adventure tailored for players who enjoy cooperative action without the framework of an ongoing live-service title.
Moving Past Days Gone and Looking Ahead
The report also provides a key piece of information for fans who have spent years hoping for a direct continuation of Deacon St. John's story. The new project represents a fresh direction for the developer, clarifying that the studio is not returning to the protagonist of Days Gone. While precise narrative and setting details remain undisclosed, this distinct path allows the development team to explore new gameplay mechanics and creative concepts.
Why This Matters for PlayStation Gamers
Bend Studio has a long history of delivering memorable action experiences, from the classic Syphon Filter franchise to the open-world survival mechanics of Days Gone. Learning that the team is deep into development on a third-person cooperative project offers exciting context for the future of PlayStation's first-party lineup.
As development continues, official details regarding the game's setting, full title, and specific gameplay mechanics have not yet been revealed. Be sure to follow RookieGamerCoupons to stay informed on all the latest PlayStation news, gaming updates, and exclusive deals.
