Step Back into the Nineties with PlayStation's Prism Collection
Nostalgic hardware enthusiasts have something special to look forward to as Sony prepares to release a fresh wave of retro-inspired accessories for the PlayStation 5. Drawing inspiration from the iconic clear-cased tech trends of the late 1990s, the newly announced Prism Collection brings a sleek translucent aesthetic to modern gaming setups.
This eye-catching lineup features both custom DualSense wireless controllers and matching PS5 console covers, allowing players to completely transform the appearance of their gaming station. By giving players a clear view of the internal engineering of their hardware, PlayStation is celebrating the classic look that made legacy gaming devices so memorable.
Three Bold Colors and See-Through Design
The Prism Collection introduces three distinct color options designed to make your console setup pop: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray. Each piece in the collection utilizes a high-quality translucent finish that enables gamers to observe part of the internal components underneath the shell.
Whether you choose the vivid warmth of Flare Orange, the classic look of Emerald Green, or the understated tone of Graphite Gray, the collection offers a stylish way to personalize your gaming space. The transparent casing offers a subtle nod to the golden era of clear handhelds and home consoles, while maintaining the ergonomic feel and advanced features of modern PlayStation hardware.
Pricing, Pre-Orders, and Launch Schedule
Gamers looking to pick up these stylish accessories can expect standard premium pricing for official PlayStation gear in the United States. The Prism Collection DualSense controllers will be priced at $84.99 USD, while the matching console covers will sell for $74.99 USD.
Pre-orders for the entire lineup are scheduled to begin on November 10, giving fans a chance to secure their preferred items early ahead of the official release in February 2027. Further region-specific availability and international pricing details have not yet been fully detailed.
Why the Prism Collection Matters to Gamers
Aesthetic customization has become a major aspect of modern console ownership. By offering transparent designs, Sony is acknowledging the deep connection many players have with classic hardware aesthetics. These covers and controllers allow fans to showcase their personality while enjoying the full power of the PlayStation 5.
